Amelia has completed her studies for Registered Massage Therapy and is currently waiting to complete the board exam to become registered. Prior to this career path, she received an undergraduate degree in leadership studies and psychology from the University of New Brunswick.
Since studying massage therapy, she has acquired an excellent skill set of knowledge and tools in areas such as: deep tissue techniques, fascial work, trigger point release, joint mobilizations, paraffin treatments, and active and passive table stretches. In addition to assessing and treating orthopaedic conditions and soft tissue injuries, she strives to incorporate emotional and mental wellness into the treatment when patients are open to it.
Her particular interests involve working with patients to integrate a mind-body connection, while facilitating whole body integration. This can be especially supportive for those dealing with PTSD, depression, anxiety, or various emotional challenges; empowering them to take control of their health through somatic experience. Another passion of Amelia’s is working with pre and post natal women. Being a mother of three daughters, she understands the importance of women’s health and the need for more focus and resources for this population.
In her personal life, she enjoys spending time with her family, being near the ocean and curling up with a cup of tea and a good historical fiction novel. She loves being in nature and especially enjoys combing the beach for sea glass with her husband and kids.
Amelia is happy to accept new patients and is dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate and accepting space for all. Come as you are.
